Buffalo Trace Bourbon
Named after a path which was cut away by “millions” of buffalo migrating its’s one of the newest whiskey on offer at Wetherspoons.
This import comes from Kentucky in the United States. Like all Bourbons, Buffalo trace has been distilled in an oak casket and keeps the rich smells and flavours of the oak. Within the Wetherspoons range its closest comparison would be Jack Daniels though the two do not really compare in taste, it should also note that Jack Daniels is dearer currently due to Buffalo Trace introductory low price. Buffalo Trace also has a slightly higher alcohol content of 45% vs 40% usual for most Whiskeys and spirits meaning the £1 addition for a double will put you over the driving limit for most males.
Taste wise the Buffalo Trace is a strong Bourbon with a mixed aroma and is quite sweet to the taste. It is probably best drunk neat or on the rocks rather then as a mixer though if you were to drink with a mixer in a Wetherspoons then the slightly less sweet diet Pepsi will compliment rather then the full fat version. When compared to some of the local Whiskeys it does lack some of the depth and is slightly sweeter and will appear to a more varied palette it also does work
better as a mixer then Scottish Whiskeys in my opinion.
Ultimately this bourbon is a great chaser or the perfect way to finish your meal I strongly recommend it after the steak and wine deal currently on. If you have only ever drunk Jack Daniels and Coke then I suggest you try a Buffalo Trace and Diet Pepsi, its a deeper but sweeter flavour, slightly more alcoholic and cheaper to boot!
I LOVE Buffalo Trace. It’s my favorite bourbon. Strong, yet sweet – just like me
