My favourite new drink so far this summer is the Strawberry and Lime Cider from Kopparberg. It took a lot of time for some of the Wetherspoons to get it in stock, while some others have had it in for a while. Unfortunately I‘ve found that it is out of stock more often than not at my local Wetherspoons. It’s hardly surprising though because it is delicious.

So, what does Kopparbergs Strawberry and Lime cider taste like? Well for a start it actually does taste of strawberries. I remember trying the Brothers strawberry cider and not being very impressed but this is very, very different. In fact other than saying that it tastes like strawberries with a hint of lime there is not much else to say.

If you think it’s as nice as I do and you want to get your fridge stocked up then you’ll be pleased to hear that it is easy to get hold of.

Click here to Compare Kopparberg Strawberry Lime Cider prices

Wetherspoons new menu launched 20th January

Wetherspoons new menu launched this week. There are not as many changes as last time but it does have a selection of new dishes to you to enjoy and a selection of new side order options.
They have also launched the ‘Wetherspoons Foodie Guide’. This aims to make it easier for customers to choose food that matches their dietary needs.

Simple steak and chips

The biggest and perhaps most welcome new addition to the Wetherspoons menu is the new simple steak and chips.
Wetherspoons have listened to their customers who told them that they wanted the option of just steak and chips. So you can now have an 8oz rump steak, served with chips. It is also cheaper than the other steak options so as well as being tasty it is great value for money. But for those of you who like extra trimmings their full steak and grill range is still on the menu.

Wetherspoons Menu facts:

Did you know?

They only use free-range eggs.

Their tuna is caught the dolphin-friendly way

Their chips are 100% British

They cook with virtually trans-fat-free oil.

They serve 100% British beef burgers

They use sustainable cod and salmon

Find out more about Wetherspoons food

Again Wetherspoons have listened to what their customers want. People are now wanting to know more information about the food they eat. Wetherspoons have had a food facts section on their website for over three years now that let customers work out the dietary values of the food on their menu. Wetherpoons has already won many plaudits, including those from the Food Standards Agency, for amount of detail they provide about their food. They launched a nutritional information leaflet in 2009 that let customers in the pubs to look dietary information for all of their dishes. They have now taken this one stop further, in addition to the leaflet and the online guide they have now launched the Wetherspoons Foodie Guide which covers way more than just the calories, fat or salt content of the food, the welfare of the animals used and the countries of origin.

The Wetherspoons Foodie Guide tells you about:

5% fat or less

calorie-counting

gluten-free-meals

dairy-free meals

5 a day

So you can enjoy your Wetherspoons food and know what is in it.

Buffalo Trace – my Kentucky love

One of my favorite drinks at Wetherspoons is Buffalo Trace Bourbon and diet pepsi. I love that the Wetherspoons drinks menu is so wide and varied that it includes such rare bourbons like this. I have never seen it for sale in any other pub, so this is my special treat when I go to spoons.

However this leaves me with a problem, as I have also never seen it for sale in any of the supermarkets or off licenses I’ve looked in. I have found a few places that sell it online but there are not many and I will add to this list when I find anymore.

Shops selling Buffalo Trace online

www.thewhiskyexchange.com

If you have not tried Buffalo Trace yet then I really recommend you do. It’s got such a sweet, mellow flavour that you do not have to be a whiskey lover to appreciate it and it is a lovely change if you are usually a whiskey drinker. This bourbon is described in more detail in our Buffalo Trace Bourbon review.

Wetherspoons have replaced red bull with Monster Energy drink

There seem to be mixed feelings about this. Some saying that they love Monster and others hating it. What do you think?
Monster is America’s top selling energy drink and sells over 1 billion cans a year, so it has won over America, has it won over Wetherspoons customers? The red bull replacement was introduced at the same time as a whole range of new drinks.
Whether you prefer Moster energy drinks to Red Bull or not if you like to mix your energy drinks with a spirit then you will be no doubt pleased to learn that you can now buy them as one drink rather than having to buy the energy drink and the vodka or jagermeister separately and mix them yourself. So the Jager Monster is one of the new drinks on the Wetherspoons drinks menu. Not only can you now buy this premixed as a double Jager and Monster but you can even now buy a pitcher.
